The New EICS system is provided by Global Affairs Canada for the sole purpose of facilitating the processing of transactions related to the administration of the Export and Import Permits Act , its regulations and policies.
By clicking I agree below, users commit to only carry out legitimate activity within their legal authority, depending on their roles and responsibilities. Any activity that violates or attempts to violate provisions of the Act, any other Canadian legal instrument or other published requirements, is prohibited including, but not limited to, activity or behaviour that: may give rise to criminal offences; violates federal and provincial statutes; has a negative impact on the performance of Government of Canada electronic networks; may have a negative impact on Canada’s ability to fulfill its international obligations and attempts to circumvent the security features of the New EICS and the government’s systems.
System users are responsible for reporting any irregularities that they feel are suspected breaches or inappropriate use of their New EICS access credentials to Global Affairs Canada. Users should be aware that the system is monitored for unauthorized activities. The Government of Canada is not responsible for any loss that you may incur as a result of any unauthorized person using your account or your password. The Government of Canada reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate your access to the New EICS or any portion thereof at any time, without notice.
Global Affairs Canada is committed to respecting the privacy rights of individuals, including safeguarding the confidentiality of information provided by companies and individuals. Use of the Department’s New EICS online application is voluntary. Personal information is being collected under the authority of the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA), for export and imports permits purposes and it is summarized in the Record Number: GAC TID 175.
Information within the system will be handled and shared in accordance with all relevant government legislation and regulations, including the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act and the Security of Canada Information Sharing Act. The New EICS user information may be shared with other government departments and agencies, in order to verify account information and/or evaluate permit applications. User information may be shared with the governments of the United States of America and Mexico. Information that is transmitted to the USA or Mexico will be retained on their systems. Personal data collected may be subject to the governing legislation of that country, such as the USA Patriot Act.
You have the right to access and to request corrections where you believe there is an error or omission. You may contact GAC’s Access to Information and Privacy Protection at dcp@international.gc.ca to exercise these rights. In addition, individuals have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding the institution’s handling of their personal information.
